The volunteering experience at Naserian Schools

Naserian Schools is committed to providing education to vulnerable Maasai children, with a focus on combating harmful cultural practices. By volunteering with us, you can help accelerate efforts to protect and empower young girls, while also offering Maasai boys the opportunity to pursue futures beyond traditional cattle herding. Become a part of our mission and make a lasting impact on the lives of these children.

Volunteers can help in various areas, including

Teaching English
Teaching sports, games, arts, and music
Mentoring teachers and supporting them with teaching and child interaction skills
Conducting home visits and providing childcare support
Monitoring healthcare for sick or malnourished children
Creating teaching and learning resources
Assisting with administrative tasks, including marketing and fundraising

Volunteer Requirements

To ensure a smooth and rewarding experience, we have a few requirements for volunteers:

A contribution of $100 USD per week, which covers:
- Accommodation
- Meals (breakfats, lunch and dinner)
- Transportation to and from both schools
- 24/7 in-country support
- Laundry service
- Assistance in getting a local sim-card for mobile data
Volunteers under 16 years must have parental consent or be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
A criminal background check or a reference letter is required, as you will be working with children.
All volunteers must have adequate travel insurance.
A good knowledge of English is required.

Accommodation

Volunteers stay at the Naserian Volunteer House, where rooms are shared with 2-4 people of the same gender. Our accommodation is equipped with water and electricity.

While volunteering, you’ll also be able to enjoy exciting activities, including:

Bike rides or walks to Lake Manyara National Park
A visit to the green town of Mto wa Mbu, where you’ll explore banana plantations, rice paddies, and even taste banana beer!
A chance to experience Maasai culture through a visit to local Maasai bomas
A trip to local waterfalls cascading from the Great Rift Valley cliffs

Airport Pickup

Airport pickup to Naserian Schools is $100 USD.
If you arrive early or need to stay overnight in Arusha, an additional $50 USD is charged for accommodation and dinner.
